Lights of Myndell Demos

We currently have three demos available. Instructions are for the Nintendo DS. Download the demos by clicking on the appropriate titles.

Early Technical Demo - 2006

This is a very early, purely technical demo made by James P. It contains no storyline elements, puzzles, or characters.

Controls

Use the stylus to tap the screen.

Second Technical Demo - 2007

This is a second, more involved demo we rushed out for MAGFest '07. It includes storyline and setting, a few simple puzzles, some basic controls, and an avatar to control. As with the 2005 demo, all art is placeholder.

Controls

Up arrow - "Walk" mode

Left arrow - "Use" mode

Right arrow - "Look" mode

L button - Brings down Inventory screen

Third Technical Demo - 2007 (hardware version)

This is our third demo, done to test our final basic gameplay system and controls. It includes a very basic story and is set in a sci-fi realm, completely unrelated to Myndell. Made almost entirely by James P. Note: This demo does not work on DeSmuME. Please see the "How to Play" section below for more details.

Controls

Up arrow - "Use" mode

Left arrow - "Walk" mode

Right arrow - "Look" mode

Down arrow - "Quick Slot" mode; apply an item in your quick slot to something on screen

Double tapping an item in your Inventory - Place an item into your quick slot.

L button - Brings down Inventory screen

R button - Switches to Map screen

How to Play

Emulation

To play the first two demos via emulation, we recommend using either No$GBA or DeSmuME. To play the third demo, we recommend using No$GBA.

Nintendo DS

To play the demo on your DS is more complicated. We use the PassCard and the GBA Movie Player.

This setup is fairly easy to install, but requires a CompactFlash card to use(and a way to get files from your computer onto the CF card, i.e. a media reader). The PassCard doesn't need to be configured, but the GBA Move Player requires a simple installation.
